An AI assistant, set up around your life.

You don't need to learn any new apps. We set it up on the email and calendar you already use, and it works quietly in the background. It asks you before anything goes to another person.

Step 1

A kitchen-table talk

We sit down with you, in person or on a video call, and find what takes up your week. You get a short list of what to hand off first.

Step 2

Set up in your accounts

We connect the assistant to the email and calendar you already use. Before anything's turned on, we show you what it can see and what it's allowed to do.

Step 3

We stay on

We check in monthly and adjust it as your life changes. When you're ready, we add the next thing.

How pricing works. One setup fee, fixed in writing before we start. Then a flat monthly fee for your check-in and fixes. No hourly billing. Cancel anytime.

Your ship, your rules · Privacy

Your information stays yours.

A personal assistant sees personal things: your email, calendar and bills, and school emails if you have kids. Here's how we set it up so you stay in charge.

You approve what goes outMessages, sign-ups and anything sent to another person wait for your OK.
It only sees what you connectYou choose which accounts to connect, and we show you what that gives it access to before anything is turned on.
You know where your data goesWe don't keep copies of your email or files. To do its job, the assistant sends what it reads to an AI service. Before we build, we show you exactly which one and what it does with your data.
Turn it off anytimeSay the word and we shut it off. You can also remove its access yourself in your account settings, no call needed.
What we can seeWe need some access to set things up and fix problems. We'll tell you exactly what that covers, and you can remove it whenever you want.
Home Base · on request

Want it to stay in your house?

We can set your assistant up on a small computer in your home. Your history, notes and files are stored there, and the AI runs there too, so your data isn't processed or kept on our servers or an AI company's. You buy the computer, and it's yours.

Good to know: your email still arrives through Gmail or Outlook, and an at-home AI is best at sorting, calendars and reminders. We'll tell you on the call whether it's the right fit.

  2. We sketch the assistant and show you what you'd approve.
  3. We go over it on a call. Set it up or pass.

FirstMate is the personal side of Dockhand AI. Your setup is run by a small team that stays with you from the first talk through setup and after, led by Joe Ascanio.

Joe runs his own week on the same kind of assistant we set up for you, so he knows what's worth handing off and what isn't.

We're based around Lake Norman and happy to meet anywhere within about 100 miles of Charlotte.
